In October 15, 1967 Father Kentenich gave the Father Eye Symbol, a symbol that represents the paternal care and love of God our Father,  to Pastor Heinz Kunster. He wanted  the Schoenstatt Family of Trier to keep it and guard it until the right time came, when it would be installed in the Original Shrine.

With the death of Father Kentenich, this symbol started a worldwide pilgrimage to countries that had long awaited the visit of their Father and Founder. In 2009 representatives of many countries gathered in the Conference 2014 requested that this Symbol to travel to all the countries where Schoenstatt is present to prepare the Schoenstatt Family for their centennial jubilee.

Today, exactly 47 years later, the mission of the Treveris Diocese was accomplished. They handed over the Father Eye Symbol to the Schoenstatt Presidency, represented by Father Heinrich Walter.

The ceremony, by invitation only, was held in the Founder’s Chapel (Gruderkapelle). Representatives of the Treveris Family were present, and also all the members of the General Presidium and other guests. Pastor Kunster was also present.

After several prayers, and songs,  they invited other German Diocesis to present a candle. They also invited the Schoenstatt Family of Argentina, for whom the Father Symbol is so important.  After this, the Symbol was officially handed over to the General Presidency. The Treveris Family had prepared something very special at the end of the Ceremony. There was a little capsule installed in the back of the Father Eye Symbol, and a piece of paper was signed by all present and rolled inside the capsule. These signatures will stay there as a witness of this important moment.

The Father Eye Symbol will find its permanent home, during the Covenant Celebration on October 18th, 2014 when it will be installed in the Original Shrine.
